The Ingredients and Health Benefits in Octane, The Ultimate All-In-One Energy and Sports Drink Mix.

Vitamins, Minerals, and Antioxidants for Immune System Support

Vitamin A

Beta-Carotene, is a powerful antioxidant, and has been shown to help guard against cancer and heart disease.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is one of the more powerful and well-known antioxidants..Vitamin C, also helps to maintain healthy collagen in the skin, repair damaged tissue, promote healthy teeth and bones, and boost the immune system.

Vitamin E

Note: we only use the natural form of Vitamin E in OCTANE (as d-alpha tocopheryl acetate). Vitamin E is a major antioxidant and the primary defense against lipid peroxidation. It is particularly important in protecting the body's cells from free radical/oxidative damage. These protective benefits are achievable with supplemental intakes higher than what is normally consumed in the average diet.

Vitmin B-1 (thiamin)

Vitamin B1, also known as thiamin, helps fuel your body by converting blood sugar into energy. It keeps your mucous membranes healthy and is essential for nervous system, cardiovascular and muscular function.

Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin)

Vitamin B2 helps break down carbohydrates, fats and protein for use by the body. Its role in maintaining an energy supply for the body is crucial, for it helps convert carbohydrates into adenosine triphosphate (ATP), a compound needed to store energy in muscles.

Niacin (as niacinamide and niacin)

Niacin and niacinamide are forms of vitamin B3 having equivalent vitamin activity. Both are precursors in the synthesis of the pyridine coenzymes NAD and NADP involved in cell metabolism.  They’re useful in arthritis and early-onset type I diabetes; niacin is an effective reducer of high cholesterol levels as well.  It also maintains normal function of skin, nerves, digestive system. Another important benefit is, Niacin which contains nicotinic acid has the ability dilates the blood vessels, thereby increasing blood flow  through all parts of the human body, regulating the supply of oxygen and nutrients and also flushing accumulated toxins out of the body which are present in fatty tissue.

Vitamin B6

Vitamin B6 helps the body make several neurotransmitters, chemicals that carry signals from one nerve cell to another. It is essential for normal brain development and function, and helps the body make the hormones serotonin and norepinephrine (which influence mood) and melatonin (which helps regulate the body clock).

Folic Acid

Folic acid is Vitamin B9 which act like a coenzyme in the breakdown of proteins and in the synthesis of new proteins. It is necessary for the production of red blood cells and the synthesis of DNA (which controls heredity), as well as tissue growth and cell function. It also increases the appetite and stimulates the formation of digestive acids. Everyone needs folic acid. For women who may get pregnant, it is really important. When a woman has enough folic acid in her body before and during pregnancy, it can prevent major birth defects of her baby's brain or spine.

Vitamin B12

Vitamin B12 is an essential water-soluble vitamin that is commonly found in a variety of foods such as fish, shellfish, meat, and dairy products. Vitamin B12 is frequently used in combination with other B vitamins in a vitamin B complex formulation. It helps maintain healthy nerve cells and red blood cells and is also needed to make DNA, the genetic material in all cells. Vitamin B12 is bound to the protein in food. Hydrochloric acid in the stomach releases B12 from protein during digestion. Once released, B12 combines with a substance called intrinsic factor (IF) before it is absorbed into the bloodstream.  It also help your cells metabolize protein, carbohydrate, and fats.

Biotin

Biotin is a B vitamin that's needed for the formation of fatty acids and glucose, which are essential for the production of energy. It also helps with the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats and proteins.

Vitamin B-5 (Pantothenic Acid)

Vitamin B5 known as the “anti-stress vitamin” plays an important role in the secretion of hormones, such as cortisone because of the role it plays in supporting the adrenal gland. These hormones assist the metabolism, help to fight allergies and are beneficial in the maintenance of healthy skin, muscles and nerves. Pantothenic acid is also used in the release of energy as well as the metabolism of fat, protein and carbohydrates. It is used in the creation of lipids, neurotransmitters, steroid hormones and hemoglobin. Pantothenic acid has been known to also be helpful to fight wrinkles as well as graying of the hair.

Copper

Copper is the third most abundant trace mineral in the body, and helps protect the cardiovascular, skeletal, and nervous systems. It is needed to make an enzyme that keeps your arteries from hardening and possibly rupturing, and for the production of phospholipids, which help form the myelin sheath surrounding the nerves. Copper plays a key role in the development and maintenance of healthy skin and hair. The body needs copper to produce the skin pigment melanin, which colors the skin, hair, and eyes. When hair turns gray due to copper deficiency, taking copper supplements may reverse the process. Copper also helps regulate the function of lysyl oxidase, an enzyme needed for the creation of collagen in the bones, connective tissues, and skin. Many topical creams designed to firm and restore the skin’s elasticity now contain copper peptides as an active ingredient. Copper also helps the body fight cardiovascular disease. It promotes low cholesterol levels, and discourages the development of atherosclerosis and aortic aneurysms by keeping collagen and elastin fibers healthy. Heart rhythm disorders (arrhythmias) and high blood pressure have been linked to an absence of copper in the diet. Copper also helps supply the heart with healthy, oxygenated blood. It works together with iron in the respiration and synthesis of hemoglobin. In fact, copper is believed to be necessary for proper storage, use, and release of the iron needed to produce hemoglobin in red blood cells. For this reason, copper is sometimes used to treat anemia. Approximately 50 percent of the body’s total copper content is found in the bones and muscles. Copper is a common treatment for rheumatoid arthritis and osteoporosis—because it helps promote healthy collagen in the body, copper may relieve aching joints and minimize loss in mineral bone density.

Chromium

Chromium, an essential mineral, is necessary for the formation of Glucose Tolerance Factor, a compound that regulates the body's use of glucose and helps to balance blood sugar. Chromium is also used in the metabolism and storage of fats, proteins, and carbohydrates by the body. Although there is no hard evidence that chromium aids weight loss or reduces body fat, as has been suggested in the past, chromium does have many other health benefits.

Citrus Bioflavanoids

can have antiviral effects. They also provide natural anti-allergy and anti-inflammatory benefits as well as help with fighting free radicals also known as toxins.

When it comes to the common cold, citrus bioflavonoids can help reduce the symptoms such as congestion and other respiratory conditions associated with the cold and allergies. The come in a variety of different forms and are not produced by the body making it an essential supplement that one needs to help boost the immune system. There are good sources of bioflavonoids in some of the foods that we eat such as citrus fruits, peppers, apricots, lemons, grape fruit and prunes, but many people do not incorporate the recommended five servings of fruits per day which leaves a lot of people deficient in this area.

When taking a citrus bioflavonoid supplement on a daily basis, it also provides other health benefits as well. This includes the prevention and treatment of varicose veins, spider veins, blood clots, bruising, high cholesterol levels, arthritis, cataracts, inflammation, bleeding gums, edema and hypertension. It is also well known for helping with the aging process due to its antioxidant properties and can actually keep you looking and feeling much younger than you are. Most importantly, it enhances the function of vitamin C which means you are basically getting double your vitamin intake and allowing healthier immune system.

Boron

Boron is a trace mineral that is needed by the body in minuscule amounts. It was discovered in 1910 as an essential element for plants but in 1985 scientific research discovered it was an essential nutrient for people, too. Boron benefits include healthy bones and proper brain functioning. Boron plays a major role in helping to prevent osteoporosis by helping build and maintain healthy bones. It helps reduce the loss of calcium and magnesium in the urine, which is needed to help build strong bones. Boron elevates levels of serum estrogen and ionized calcium (important because women who develop osteoporosis have low levels of these). Boron also helps maintain healthy cell membranes for normal cell function, and facilitates various enzyme reactions for the body. Studies have shown that a deficiency in this mineral may impair mental functioning and depress mental alertness.

ELECTROLYTES

Note: The Octane All-In-One Energy and Sports Drink Mix contains all five main electrolytes which are Calcium, Chloride, Magnesium, Potassium, Sodium and the three Micro-Essential Electrolytes which are Selenium, Zinc and Phosphorus.

Calcium

About 99% of the body's calcium is stored in the bones, but cells (particularly muscle cells) and blood also contain calcium. Calcium is essential for the following:
Calcium is one of the main nutrients that the body requires in order to overcome the problems of high blood pressure, heart attack, premenstrual syndrome and colon cancer. One of the main health benefits of calcium is that it helps in keeping the bones strong and healthy. Calcium helps to keep a check on the blood pressure and also it aids in muscle contraction, thereby enabling the heart and blood vessels to perform their functioning effectively.

Chloride

Chloride is an “essential” mineral for humans. It is abundant in ionic trace mineral preparations. It is a major mineral nutrient that occurs primarily in body fluids. In addition to its functions as an electrolyte, chloride combines with hydrogen in the stomach to make hydrochloric acid, a powerful digestive enzyme that is responsible for the breakdown of proteins, absorption of other metallic minerals, and activation of intrinsic factor, which in turn absorbs vitamin B12.

Magnesium

Electrolytes - magnesium, potassium, calcium and sodium - are some of the most important and most well known nutrients in the fight against cramping.  But, did you know that you are most likely to run out of magnesium before any other electrolyte?  Most people do not eat enough foods containing magnesium (such as green leafy vegetables, nuts, figs, and pumpkin seeds).
Magnesium is needed by the cells to allow potassium and calcium to move in and out when needed for the muscle to do its job. Without adequate levels of any of these nutrients, the muscle becomes irritable. Both potassium and calcium are needed and the body usually has enough of these two electrolytes, but if the body doesn't have magnesium, it can't use the other two.

Potassium

Potassium is an electrolyte (a substance that maintains your body's fluid levels), this mineral helps regulate blood pressure and heart function. Research shows that increasing your potassium intake can lower your blood pressure. Those individuals with existing hypertension, as well as those just looking to keep their blood pressure in check, can benefit from potassium.  Potassium also regulates water balance and assists recuperative powers. Potassium aids rheumatic or arthritic conditions (causing acids to leave the joints and ease stiffness). Potassium is crucial for the elimination of wastes. Potassium is a natural pain desensitizer. Potassium helps control convulsions, headaches and migraines, promotes faster healing of cuts, bruises and other injuries and generally contributes to a sense of well being. Potassium is stored in the muscles.

Sodium

Sodium is an important electrolyte and an essential ion present in the extra cellular fluid (ECF). The health benefits of sodium play a pivotal role in enzyme operation and muscle contraction. It is important for osmoregulation and fluid maintenance of the human body. Other health benefits of sodium include heart performance, nervous system and glucose absorption.
Sodium is the predominant ion and electrolyte, needed for the blood regulation in the human body. Serious impairment is caused due to the abrupt dysfunctioning of sodium. It is a versatile element and occurs in more than eighty forms. As an electrolyte, it regulates the body fluid and transmits electrical impulse in the body. Unlike minerals and vitamins, heat has no effect on sodium. Thus, it can be used for heat resistive processes. Also, it is an important constituent of nerves and helps in muscle contraction.

Selenium

Selenium is an essential trace mineral present in almost every cell of the body. The highest concentrations of Selenium in the body are found in the kidneys, liver, pancreas, spleen and testes. Selenium is very important for good health, and has many functions. Helping to boost the immune system, Selenium also has powerful antioxidant properties to help keep disease at bay. Studies show Selenium to have strong cancer-preventative properties, and to have anti-inflammatory activity. Additionally, Selenium may help prevent heart attack and stroke by making blood less likely to clot, and by increasing HDL (good) cholesterol levels. Research also shows that Selenium may be important in the prevention of age-related macular degeneration and the formation of cataracts. Selenium may also help to enhance male fertility.

Zinc

Zinc is an essential mineral that is naturally present in some foods, added to others, and available as a dietary supplement. Zinc is involved in numerous aspects of cellular metabolism. It is required for the catalytic activity of approximately 100 enzymes and it plays a role in immune function, protein synthesis, wound healing, DNA synthesis, and cell division. Zinc also supports normal growth and development during pregnancy, childhood, and adolescence and is required for proper sense of taste and smell. A daily intake of zinc is required to maintain a steady state because the body has no specialized zinc storage system. Zinc is also found in many cold lozenges and some over-the-counter drugs sold as cold remedies.

Phosphorus

Phosphorus is a mineral that is a vital part of healthy living, but it is often forgotten in the long list of vitamins and minerals that keep us healthy. It is important to be aware of your phosphorus intake to ensure you are getting the proper amount in your diet to stay healthy.

One of the most important benefits of phosphorus is the impact it has on bone health. While calcium is usually thought to be the main bone health supplement, phosphorus actually is just as important as calcium in this area. Phosphorus supplies the body with phosphate, and phosphate is a main component of your bone structure. Phosphorus is necessary in order for the benefits of calcium to be maximized, as well, which is why these two minerals often need to be taken together, especially in those who are trying to treat or prevent bone loss or osteoporosis.

Besides its benefits to bone health, phosphorus also has many other beneficial qualities. Phosphorus can help maintain the health of your kidneys and regulate fluid levels in the body. Phosphorus also affects the proteins and hormones contributing to reproductive health. The phosphate in phosphorus also works to regulate the production and use of energy in the body.

Stamina, Energy & Focus Blend

L-Glycine

Glycine is defined as a non-essential amino acid; however, whether termed “essential” or not, glycine delivers a lot of important health benefits. Most notably, glycine has a calming effect on the brain and has been found to be an effective treatment for a variety of disorders ranging from an upset stomach to schizophrenia. Additionally, glycine can help remove toxic substances like lactic acid from the body, and it may also increase the use and availability of growth hormone. It has been proven to promote the release of growth hormone and to support cell volumizing. When glycine is included in a balanced formula of amino acids, it is helpful in slowing down the breakdown of muscle tissue. It is also helpful in healing damaged muscles or in simply rebuilding muscle tissue in athletes who participate in extreme workouts. Additionally, glycine seems to boost strength and muscle development.

Taurine

Taurine is a conditionally essential, sulfur-containing amino acid produced from cysteine by the body. It is found abundantly in the body, particularly throughout the excitable tissues of the central nervous system, where it is thought to have a regulating influence. Taurine can promote optimal blood flow to nervous tissue. It also appears to play an important role in many physiological processes, such as osmoregulation, immunomodulation and bile salt formation.161 Recent studies suggested that taurine might have neuro- and cardio-protective properties and provide protection against oxidative stress. Taurine is also critical for maintaining cardiac health in certain aging individuals. Dietary taurine may help maintain healthy liver function. However, it is deficient in many diets.

L-Tyrosine

L-Tyrosine is an essential amino acid which supports brain function. It can be converted by neurons in the brain into the neurotransmitters dopamine and norepinephrine (noradrenaline), hormones which are depleted by stress, excessive work and certain drugs. By replenishing norepinephrine in the brain, mental energy levels are enhanced and a feeling of contentment often occurs. L-tyrosine boosts certain neurotransmitters in the brain and has been used to support stress reduction and depression. L-Tyrosine is converted in the body into other key biologic compounds, including L-dopa, CoQ10, thyroid hormones and melanin.

Tyrosine can also enhance athletic performance. L-Tyrosine is an important component of protein and helps form the bioactive factors vital to cellular growth and maintenance. Tyrosine supplementation has the potential to increase athletic performance in a few ways. One of the mechanisms possibly contributing to fatigue during exercise is an increase in central serotonin levels and an increase in the ratio of serotonin to dopamine. Tyrosine may help decrease this ratio and compete with tryptophan (the amino acid precursor to serotonin) at the blood-brain barrier. Increased dopaminergic activity may decrease the perception of fatigue. Also, during highly stressful conditions, catecholamine levels can become depleted, and tyrosine may be particularly useful under these conditions.

The amino acid L-tyrosine is a precursor for several substances made in the body including:
• neurotransmitters such as dopamine and norepinephrine
• melanins, the pigments largely responsible for skin and hair color
• thyroid hormones, such as thyroxine

Malic Acid

Malic acid is a natural substance found in several different organic sources such as fruits and vegetables. Malic acid is synthesized in humans as one of the steps in the Kreb's (citric acid) cycle during the production of ATP, which is the body's primary source of energy. Malic acid also occurs naturally in many fruits and vegetables, Because of its role in cellular energy production, malic acid may be helpful to individuals suffering from chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia.

Choline Bitartrate

Choline is an essential nutrient involved in many body functions that is easily included in the diet through foods like liver, muscle meats, beans, peas, eggs, and more. Choline is important to the structure and function of cells. Choline is also the base for many metabolic functions of the body; helping to synthesis phosphatidyl choline, sphingomyelin, acetylcholine, and betaine. These nutrients are all crucial to the body for they support the neurotransmitters, the cell membranes, maintain homocysteine levels, and more.

Caffeine Anhydrous

CAFFEINE- is a compound made up of four of the most common elements: carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen and oxygen. Caffeine is a central nervous system (CNS) stimulant, is one of the best-tested ergogenic aids and is known to help athletes train harder and longer. It also stimulates the brain and contributes to greater concentration. There are over 70 studies on the utilization of caffeine for both endurance exercise and short-term, high intensity exercise. The vast majority conclude that caffeine does indeed enhance performance and makes the effort seem easier. The average improvement in performance is about 12 percent, with greater benefits noticed during endurance exercise.
Caffeine has been shown to safely improve many of the mental functions necessary to be successful in athletics like speeding up reaction time, improving processing skills, increasing alertness and the ability to concentrate. Furthermore, caffeine is known to increase the utilization of free fatty acids by the muscles enhancing endurance and fat burning while sparing muscle glycogen.

D-Ribose

Ribose is a naturally occurring substance used by every cell in your body to synthesize and rebuild energy. Ribose is the most fundamental building block of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the primary source of energy for every muscle cell in your body.  ATP gives your body the energy it needs to stay healthy, overcome fatigue, and regain the vitality you need to live a normal, active life. That is why ATP is called the "energy currency" of the cell.

Ribose helps energize your heart and muscles by increasing energy on a cellular level. Aging, strenuous exercise or overexertion, and many metabolic or physiological conditions can drain ATP from your tissue and affect how well your body makes and uses energy. Science has proven that ribose is a necessary ingredient for rebuilding energy in our bodies. So, without ribose we cannot make the energy we need to stay healthy.

L-Phenyalanine

Phenylalanine is an essential amino acid, needed for proper growth and functioning of the central nervous system. It has been used to treat depression and chronic pain as well as other malfunctions of the central nervous system. Humans and animals can't produce their own phenylalanine so they must obtain it from their diet.
L-Phenylalanine is an essential amino acid, and Tyrosine precursor that works with B-6 on the central nervous system as an anti-depressant and mood elevator. Aids in learning and memory retention, relieves menstrual problems, arthritic and migraine pain. A Thyroid stimulant that helps curb the appetite.

L-Carnitine

L-Carnitine supports fat metabolism and energy production:  L-Carnitine is found abundantly in muscle tissue and functions primarily to regulate fat metabolism and transport fatty acids into the mitochondria of cells, where they are oxidized and converted to energy.  L-carnitine is essential to the transportation of long-chain fatty acids into the cells where the fats can be converted to energy. Recent research indicates carnitine plays an important role in converting stored body fat into energy, energizing the heart, reducing angina attacks, controlling hypoglycemia, and is beneficial with diabetes, liver disease and kidney disease.

Rodiola Rosea

is a legendary adaptogenic tonifier that comes from the polar Arctic regions of Eastern Siberia. Among traditional people there, it is highly valued as a strengthening tonic to increase physical and mental stamina. Full Spectrum Rhodiola Rosea combines an extract standardized to 0.8% salidrosides and 0.8% rosavin with a whole root extract, in order to provide the broadest spectrum of rhodiola constituents. 2 tablets twice daily between meals.

Muscle Fuel Amino Acid Blend 3250mg

L-Glutamine

Glutamine is a nonessential amino acid that is the most abundant free amino acid in human muscle and plasma. It is necessary for rapidly dividing cells, including those of the gut and immune system. It is also used as an energy source in mitochondria, and is a precursor of the brain neurotransmitter glutamate. Glutamine is also needed for optimal nucleotide biosynthesis and protein synthesis. The function of glutamine in stimulating glycogen synthase, the enzyme which controls the synthesis and storage of glycogen fuel in muscles and liver, may provide a mechanism by which glutamine supplements promote enhanced fuel stores. Glutamine supplements cause a rapid rise in cellular glutamine levels and glutamine stores in muscle. Glutamine is a diverse amino acid that is utilized in numerous vital functions. People that do heavy exercising can lower their glutamine levels causing stress to their body and immune systems. For that reason, supplementing with glutamine can be important to a serious athlete, someone challenged with muscle loss, or who wants to help maintain optimal immune function under heavy stress

L-Leucine

is an essential amino acid, meaning it can not be made by the body, and must be acquired through food or dietary supplements. Leucine is classified as a "branched-chain amino acid" (BCAA). It comprises about 8% of the total amino acid count in your body's protein structures and is the fourth most concentrated amino acid in skeletal muscle tissue. L-Leucine stimulates muscle protein synthesis and may be the major fuel involved in anabolic (tissue building) reactions. This makes them especially important for body builders and other athletes in sports that demand explosive strength.

• Maintains nitrogen balance.
• Preserve lean muscle tissue.
• Supplies the body with energy when under stress.
• Preserves muscle glycogen (glucose stored in muscle tissue used to power muscular contraction).
• Enhances thinking abilities that can decline as physical activity becomes more intense.

L-Isoleucine

is an essential amino acid that along with leucine and valine makeup the "branched chain amino acids" (BCAA). This amino acid cannot be manufactured in the body, and needs to be supplied in the diet. Isoleucine is thought to play the biggest role in increasing endurance and helping heal, repair and grow muscle tissue damaged from injury and strenuous exercise and training. Isoleucine is especially important to serious athletes and body builders because of its role in boosting energy production and assisting the body recover from strenuous physical activity. Isoleucine, together with the other two branched-chain-amino-acids promote muscle recovery after physical exercise and on its own it is needed for the formation of hemoglobin as well as assisting with regulation of blood sugar levels as well as energy levels. It is also involved in blood-clot formation.

• An essential amino acid.
• Required for muscle tissue maintenance.
• Preserves muscle glycogen stores (energy).
• Prevents muscle protein deterioration especially during exercise.
• May be helpful for individuals who exercise in extreme conditions.

L-Valine

is an essential amino acid, specifically classified as a "branched-chain amino acid" (BCAA). BCAA's, which include valine as well as leucine and isoleucine, stimulate protein synthesis directly in muscle tissue. Valine works in the body as a fuel involved in anabolic (tissue-building) reactions, and stimulates muscle protein synthesis. Valine helps optimize the body's metabolism, providing energy and assistance with the repair and growth of damaged tissues. It has a stimulating effect and is needed for muscle metabolism, repair and growth of tissue and maintaining the nitrogen balance in the body.
Valine, helps stimulate the central nervous system and is needed for proper mental functioning. Valine may also improves liver function by assisting with removal of potentially toxic excess nitrogen from the liver and aids in nitrogen transport to other tissues in the body as needed. Increased valine intake may improve liver function for Individuals with various types of liver disease and liver damage from alcohol or drug abuse.

L-Valine is an essential amino acid that cannot be made in the body and must be acquired through food or dietary supplements.

GABA

GABA (gamma-amino butyric acid) is an inhibitory neurotransmitter, helping neurons stay selective about the signals to which they respond and helping produce a state of relaxation. Taken at bedtime, supplemental GABA may assist some people in the initiation of sleep and produce a deeper and more beneficial sleep. GABA may also help maintain healthy blood pressure in those already within normal range.

Nitric Oxide Booster Amino Acid Blend 1525mg:

Nitric Oxide, a key molecule manufactured by the body, causes vasodilation (an expansion of the internal diameter of blood vessels), which in turn leads to increased blood flow, oxygen transport, delivery of nutrients to skeletal muscle, and a reduction in blood pressure.

L-Arginine

Arginine (or L-arginine) is a crystalline free-form amino acid involved in numerous areas of human biochemistry, including muscle metabolism, ammonia detoxification, hormone secretion and the immune system. L-arginine is considered a semi-essential amino acid, because although it is normally synthesized in sufficient amounts by the body, supplementation is sometimes required. Arginine supports protein synthesis as it is involved in the transport and storage of nitrogen and is important for proper physical performance because it is used by the body to produce creatine.

L-arginine is required for the synthesis of nitric oxide, a secondary messenger involved in blood flow. Nitric oxide is a compound that helps keep blood vessels dilated to promote healthy blood flow. Preliminary evidence suggests that arginine may be useful in the treatment of medical conditions that are improved by vasodilation, such as angina, atherosclerosis, coronary artery disease, erectile dysfunction, heart failure, intermittent claudication/peripheral vascular disease, and vascular headache. Arginine also stimulates protein synthesis and has been studied for wound healing, bodybuilding, enhancement of sperm production (spermatogenesis), and prevention of wasting in people with critical illness. L-Arginine is beneficial for overall cardiovascular maintenance and sexual function as well as other areas that depend largely on healthy circulatory status.

Beta-Alanine

Beta-Alanine is a lactic acid buffer that increases training capacity giving you the ability to train harder and longer. Weight training and athletic activities cause your body to produce lactic acid. This causes muscle pH to drop and become more acidic due to the large amount of hydrogen ions produced. As muscle pH drops, your muscle's ability to perform at its peak level decreases. Beta Alanine works by increasing muscle carnosine levels, which in turn, works as a muscle buffer by soaking up these extra hydrogen ions. In scientific studies, beta Alanine has been shown to increase strength, power output, endurance, exercise capacity, muscle mass, and delay the onset of neuromuscular fatigue. Beta Alanine is perfect for anyone who practices a sport where strength, power and endurance are needed.

Beta-Alanine supports increased performance and lean mass gains by:

L-Arginine Alpha Ketoglutarate

Arginine Alpha-Ketoglutarate (AAKG) promotes increased nitric oxide (NO) production for enhanced blood flow and better delivery of oxygen and nutrients to working muscle. AAKG creates an anabolic environment in your body by increasing the volume of blood flowing through muscle tissue (hemodilation) which leads to increased oxygen and nutrient delivery, glucose uptake, muscle velocity and power output. AAKG helps amplify muscle-growth signals giving faster gains in lean mass and accelerates both fast and slow twitch muscle fiber for greater strength, improved muscle recovery, and increased endurance. The increased blood flow may also contribute to enhanced sexual performance.

L-Arginine Ketoisocaproate

An amino acid compound called arginine alpha-ketoglutarate (A-AKG) and arginine-ketoisocaproate (A-KIC) can boost short term Nitric Oxide levels. Increased strength and markedly improved stamina can also be expected. In fact, the results may be classified into three categories: 1) the promotion of an extended muscle pump; 2) signaling muscle growth and speeding recovery; 3) increasing strength and stamina. Used in conjunction with your exercise program, NoX2 may support myodilation, the expansion of muscle tissue, muscle growth, faster recovery, increased strength, stamina and sexual vigor.

Citrulline Malate

Citrulline is a non-essential amino acid that has numerous health and athletic performance benefits. Citrulline is used to support the detoxification of ammonia and to enhance nitric oxide production. Citrulline, along with arginine and ornithine helps to rid the body of ammonia, a toxic byproduct of protein metabolism. Citrulline also provides a readily available substrate for arginine production, which is used for the production of nitric oxide. Nitric oxide enhances blood flow and gives better delivery of oxygen and nutrients to working muscle. Arginine creates an anabolic environment in your body by increasing the volume of blood flowing through muscle tissue (hemodilation) which leads to increased oxygen and nutrient delivery, glucose uptake, muscle velocity and power output. Research has shown that supplementation of citrulline malate raises arginine levels more effectively than taking the same dose of straight Arginine.
Citrulline Malate also aids in recovery. Subsequent to exercise, muscle levels of creatine phosphate are reduced and it takes some time for levels to be re-elevated. The more Creatine Phosphate your muscles have the stronger and better able to perform they will be. Citrulline Malate stimulates phosphocreatine recovery after exercise, meaning faster recuperation between workouts, and muscles that are primed for growth and your next training session.

Malate conditions the recycling of lactate and pyruvate and is part of the Krebs cycle and can supply instant and sustained energy. While the Citrulline part of Citrulline Malate acts to increase Nitric Oxide and to eliminate performance inhibiting metabolic toxins, the Malate part keeps our energy cycle going.

Citrulline Malate works by powering ATP (the energy molecule that fuels muscle) production and by eliminating metabolic pollutants such as lactic acid and ammonia from the blood. Citrulline stimulates energy, boosts the immune system, is metabolized to form L-Arginine and as a result regulate Nitric Oxide production, and detoxifies ammonia, which damages living cells. All exercise results in production of Ammonia. Citrulline malate's nitric oxide enhancing properties give unique benefits to athletes which includes enhanced pumps and improved nutrient delivery.

Citrulline malate is a performance-enhancing athletic dietary supplement which can reduce muscle fatigue.

L-Histidine

L-Histidine is an essential amino acid, which converts to histamine, a powerful blood vessel dilator, involved in gastric acid secretions and neurotransmission in the central nervous systems. It is also related to circadian rhythms and sexual arousal and orgasmic function in women. L-Histidine is needed for growth and for the repair of tissue, as well as the maintenance of the myelin sheaths that act as protector for nerve cells. It is known to help protect the body from damage caused by radiation and also helps in removing heavy metals from the body. L-Histidine is precursor to the allergy symptom producing hormone histamine. Histamine is well known for its role in stimulating the inflammatory response of skin and mucous membranes such as those found in the nose - this action is essential in the protection of these barriers during infection.
Histamine also stimulates the secretion of the digestive enzyme gastrin. Without adequate histamine production healthy digestion can become impaired. Without adequate L-histidine stores, the body cannot maintain adequate histamine levels. In the stomach, L-Histidine can be helpful in producing gastric juices. People with a shortage of gastric juices or suffering from indigestion, may also benefit from this nutrient. L-histidine is also required by the body to regulate and utilize essential trace minerals such as copper, zinc, iron, manganese and molybdenum. L-Histidine is one of the glucogenic amino acids.  Glucogenic amino acids facilitate the body's production of energy. L-Histidine is used to help boost the production of red and white blood cells. Research has shown that increased supplementation of L-Histidine can cause increased secretion and elimination of zinc from the human body so supplementing with zinc when taking L-Histidine is recommended. Low levels of L-Histidine have been associated with Rheumatoid Arthritis, and anemia.

Why Not To Drink Carbonated Drinks.

These days the consumption of carbonated beverages (such as soft drinks and energy drinks in a can) are quite disconcerting when you consider that these beverages are actually toxic to the human body. Millions of people that are trying to be healthy eaters consume diet sodas, sparkling water, and canned energy drinks thinking they are OK to a clean diet, simply because they are low in calories. However carbonated drinks contain some very toxic compounds such as carbonation, artificial coloring (food dyes), artificial sweeteners, and phosphoric acid. The next time you reach for that Diet Soda or a Canned Energy Drink note; that you are getting ready to consume the following by drinking it:

Carbonation

Carbonation is created by pumping carbon dioxide into water or other liquid. Carbon dioxide is a waste product of cellular and food metabolism, and as such the body wants to expel it. So now you are in effect further adding a waste product to your body! Carbonated beverages also burden to the body by weakening stomach acid, thereby interfering with proper digestion. It neutralizes digestive enzymes – these enzymes are responsible for over 300 complex reactions in the body. Nutritional absorption is seriously compromised by a lack of these enzymes. In addition, minerals are better absorbed in a strong acidic base. Nitrates are also in most carbonated drinks, and they not only inhibit the absorption of nutrients, they cause calcium to be leached from the bones. Since adding bicarbonate to the blood stream upsets the body’s chemical balance, it is logical to assume that the common claim of carbonation effecting performance during athletics has some relevance. Athletes are advised to not drink carbonated beverages because it decreases optimal performance.

Artificial Coloring (Food Dyes)

Many carbonated beverages contain artificial coloring (food dyes) which are unhealthy for human consumption. Many of these colorings have been connected to ailments such as Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD). They are unnatural, difficult to digest and process, and have even been linked to certain cancers.

Artificial Sweeteners

Unfortunately, even though diet sodas have less sugar than regular soda and this goes for sugar free energy drinks as well, they contain another concern, artificial sweeteners one such as aspartame. Aspartame is a low calorie artificial sweetener that has the effect of lowering your body’s metabolism. Aspartame has also been linked to convulsions, depression, insomnia, irritability, weakness, dizziness, migraines, and mood changes.

Phosphoric Acid

This is the substance that causes the soft drink to fizz. This being an acid, phosphoric acid "burns” your intestines but more importantly can upset your body’s delicate phosphorus-calcium balance. Calcium can be released from the bones to restore proper pH balance in the blood. As a result, the presence of phosphoric acid can lead to the weakening of the skeletal structure and can cause osteoporosis. So the next time you reach for that canned soft drink, sparkling water or canned energy drink, we highly encourage you to think twice. Think about what that acidic liquid will be doing to your internal environment. Also note the side effects you can feel when you consume carbonated drinks: one is that bloated uncomfortable feeling and two is the unwanted water retention that will mess with that lean physique you're after. If you have the choice, go with good purified drinking water which will replenish and revitalize your body!

Add OCTANE to your water and fuel your "Mind and Body" the nutrition it needs to maximize both your mental and physical performance.

Why ProSport Nutrition Does Not Use Maltodextrin In Our Product Like Other Companies Pre-Workout Products?

Don’t be fooled by Hype or Illusion! Most pre-workout powders on the market today are not as healthy for you as you think. One of the big problems is fillers companies add the their product. The main filler companies use as a filler is maltodextrin which will cause your Insulin levels to soar, and can cause you to put fat weight on. You ask how this is? Well maltodextrin has a very high glycemic index rating of 105 which is way high on the GI chart. To let compare, Glucose is numbered 100 on the GI chart and table sugar is numbered at 65 to 68 on the GI chart. This high number of 105 of maltodextrin will cause your insulin to shoot through the roof and put your body into fat storing mode. Maltodextrin is worse than pure sugar! What’s really bad is maltodextrin is found in large quantities ranging from 5 to 12g per serving in all the top selling pre-workout bodybuilding products. So if you were not born with that "genetic lean body" and are trying to get lean, you will not want to consume products that list maltodextrin in their ingredients.

Note: some companies go so far disguise Maltodextrin on their label by listing it as "glucose polymers". So be cautious of this as well when reading the supplement facts / ingredient panel.

So if your pre-workout product you’re taking is making you fat, it probably has maltodextrin in it or listed as glucose polymers

Why do these companies add fillers (maltodextrin) to their products?

It’s simple; the industry knows the consumer is trained to think bigger is better. So companies add maltodexrin as a filler to expand their powder base so they can package their powder blend into a bigger container to deceive you the customer into thinking you’re getting more product for your money. Not True!

When you purchase OCTANE you get nothing but pure nutrition in each serving!
